In July of 2008, Rackspace launched its inaugural Tech Kids Summer Camp! Partnered with UTSA, Rackspace hosted a two week long
technology summer camp for twenty kids. Eighth and ninths graders from NEISD, SAISD, and children of Rackspace employees sat
through classes taught by Rackers on everything from "How the Internet Works" to "Basics of Web Server Software".
Along with classes, the Tech Kids participated in several hands-on activities—along with creating "The Story of Rackspace" and
"Electronic Folk Art", they also were given the opportunity to each build a server. Our Tech Kids also got to visit various
places throughout the city, which included Rackspace's "Castle" location—Windsor Park Mall, Rackspace's Datapoint location,
UTSA's Downtown campus, as well as a Rackspace Datacenter, and The Witte Museum.
